Latest mock draft off fanspeak

Try fanspeak
You can do a free agency and then you can do a draft

It gives you the cap numbers, allows you to cut from your team roster, makes the cap adjustments, it gives you an opportunity to sign your own free agents by making offers. It then opens free agency by telling you who resigned where. By looking at those numbers you can get a clue what it will take to sign your targets. You may offer as many as you want and end the day. It tells you who accepred your offers, who declined and who signed elsewhere. You can do as many days as you want. When you are done, it will give you a list of your signings. Opt out and bring up a draft.

The option in fanspeak is called Manage the cap.

I don’t know if Miami would like Tua or Herbert, but yes it is only one spot realistically. I don’t see them using that high of a pick on Okudah with much more serious needs on the DL. Unless we add some nice talent in FA, which I think is unlikely we are more likely to want to secure Brown, Epenesa or Kinlaw. Obviously if the Lions were offered a 2nd to move to #5 and they still felt their guy was going to be there it might make sense. You have to have a 2nd option you feel is equally as good a player as your first choice.

The Draft Network. I wish.

Etienne announced he’s staying at Clemson, but yes - I think he’d be somewhere around a 1st/2nd round consideration.

Why would the Lions want a backup QB?

That’s exactly what I think we have. There is Young then there is a bunch of guys. If we want to focus on Defense (which I think we should as opposed to OT, WR or poor scheme fit LB/SS) then there is Okudah and Brown right there. Even if we trade down as far as 6 with LAC, we will get either Okudah or Brown, probably Brown but we may get lucky with Okudah as well. If LAC trades up, it will be for a QB, so my thoughts would be:

  1. Burrow

  2. Young

  3. Tua/Herbert to LAC

  4. NYG wildcard here but they have their QB, so they trade out (likely with Miami sitting there to block Carolina from making a move to take last top 10 QB off the board) to maybe a Carolina that wants to shoot the wad to get the #3 QB before Miami can take him. So either another QB goes via TU by another team or NY stands pat, probably IMHO for Judy or an OT. Maybe they do go Brown or Okudah but they can’t take both.

  5. Tua/Herbert to Miami if they stay put.

  6. Lions from LAC - Okudah or Brown depending on what NYG does at 4.

Thing is, we can hook ourselves up with some of that TD ammo. If we use the 2 and 3 we’d get from trading out of 3 (and getting a player we want anyway), we can trade back up into the teens, fix what we don’t fix with our 1a. and STILL have our original 2nd and 3rd round picks!

If we go Okuda with 1a. We can go with Kinlaw a similar prospect to Brown with 1b.
If we go Brown with 1a. We can go with Fulton a similar prospect to Okudah with 1b.

Brown 6’5 318 can play 5t and 3t for us day one.
Kinlaw 6’6 310 can play 5t and 3t for us day one.
Okudah 6’1 200 can play #2 CB for us day one.
Fulton 6’0 200 can play #2 CB for us day one.

then go Swift RB and Brooks LB with our 2nd and 3rd and we are cooking with JP4.

Latest I came up with. Guys like Brooks and Weaver will go higher certainly, but hey I played it as it came. (no homo).

This is the raw results, but I TD still get Okudah and use the ammo from that to move back up into the teens and take Kinlaw DL, so add him to this haul and I’m happy.

Fanspeak with the new CBS Sports big board today.

At least with the first two picks, the Lions would be getting the top player at his position.
