Oops.....(Stafford)

All you have to do is go back the year before where he played in 9 games. Why not bring that up? Because your trolling. I know it and so do you.

In 2011 the team had injuries and got healthy. They won 4 games in overtime and barely won in a weak ass division. I know you know this.

Iggy you can’t possibly believe this BS. You have more football smarts than this. If your honestly going to take this stance than I’m gonna lose all respect for your football knowledge. Come on man.

You’re like a broken record of whining.

I’m not missing your point, I just think your point is a bad one.

You believe the fact Stafford hasn’t won a playoff game is his defect. The reality is the fact Stafford hasn’t won a playoff game is a Lions defect. They are squandering the prime years of a very very good QB.

It’s amazing how you don’t think the QB is responsible for 7 straight quarters without a TD. Lol. Top QBs don’t have career losing records. Let’s do a fun exercise… name some “top” QBs with career losing records. I bet you can’t.

If I am broken record of whining, Stafford is a broken record of winning absolutely nothing of significance. Even dating back to his college days.

Iggy , you make good sense to me from day one . You will have the final word on December , I am waiting for it , hope I will not be shut down again with stats that I don’t understand

Perfect! Well put!

“Whether 'tis nobler in the mind to suffer
The slings and arrows of outrageous fortune,
Or to take arms against a sea of troubles,
And by opposing end them?”

― William Shakespeare, [Hamlet]

That hack’s words remind me why I still want to see Stafford win in Detroit.

Or, then there’s

“It ain’t over til it’s over.”

Yogi Berra

You assume that would prove Stafford is a bad QB. It doesn’t prove your assertion. A QB can be very good independent of the amount of games the team won or lost during his tenure.

Again, a QB who has thrown for rather historic numbers, on the all time list for passing yards, whose regularly been top 10 in the league in pass completion, passing yards, passer rating, passing TDs with a losing record is not a QB problem. Its a team problem.

I mean you say he doesn’t have “it” but he is literally among the leaders in 4th quarter comebacks in NFL HISTORY. Like 10th or something. And he’s had a ton of games where they lost AFTER he went down and scored on his last possession.

I’m not buying what you are selling. You don’t have a point. If you simply wanted to say Stafford is not quite as good as some of the very best QBs in the league I might offer counter argument but I wouldn’t dismiss you. Right now, you have some weird axe to grind.

And there’s not a damn thing wrong with that
I don’t think anyone was “thumping their chest”
That’s nonsense
Did it give a measure of hope?
Sure
So what …

There’s a difference between having hope and the posts I’m referring to. Not trying to drag on you having hope. I was making a point about football in September.

Lions beat the Eventual SB champ Patriots in September, go on to win 6 games. Lions hang with the eventual SB champ Chiefs. Win 3 games. This is my point. Championship football is NOT played in September. Lions fans especially should know this.

I’m definitely not interested in getting into the Stafford debate, but that question does pique my curiosity.

Are there any other top QBs with a losing record in the history of the league? Just curious.

I’ve heard 100s or more current and former lions players and coaches say Stafford is a VERY hard working guy. They say his leadership is unmatched. Hell he was in the ear and head of all the QBs at practice, meetings, and games helping them while he was hurt. He’s played thru injuries and broken bones. You question his LEADERSHIP I lose all respect for the entire post. I’ll take the guy’s word who see him every day over any haters every day.
Wanna talk results ok. Talk performance let’s go. Talk team vs individual all for it.
Question his toughness or leadership and i’m done discussing

WTF, Iggy show grit Lols, the guy came back in with a broken collar bone to throw the game winning TD. Now that’s grit, giving a bum QB credit and calling it grit because his team played well as a “team” is well stupid . Now Tebow is great and Stafford sucks because he won a play off game. After this you should never speak of QBs or there Play again. Because todays statement has lost you any creditability you might have had. Lols your football concept is the funniest on this board and I now realize why u never win a bet. Fucking Hilarious.

That’s absolutely true but it applies to all teams
The better ones get better as the season progresses
Presumably the Lions got better too — only Stafford wasn’t available
I’m making no claims but it’s not like KC improves throughout the season, but the Lions don’t

Fair point, but what about the previous year? The Patriots kept getting better, and the lions didn’t, with Stafford.

I’m in the camp that I don’t think this team would have won more than 7 or 8 games with Stafford. The defense was awful and the running game left a lot to be desired.

I’m not going to debate anything
There really is no point to it
I can say that the Lions defense improved in 2018, certainly after the arrival of Snacks
Beyond that I think the offense got stale with Cooter

I hear you man. I think we get to a point where we’re just splitting hairs. I appreciate the responses Sleats. I find that I learn a lot from the posts I read and receive on this board.

I could have worded my original post differently. I wasn’t meaning to drag anyone with hope or who was excited, I was just speaking to a few posters (I’m sure they know who they are lol)

Yeah the the defense, didn’t just get stail the next year it molded down right rottied to the point of stentch.

Let’s keep in mind Staffords career isn’t over. That he took over an 0-16 team and it’s very plausible he finishes his career with a winning record. In fact in 2020 he could do it. He’s just one good season away. But to answer you.

Warren Moon is 108 losses -105 wins.
Eli Manning is 125 wins -121 losses
Vinnie Testeverde was a very good QB who lead a very poor Cleveland team for years. He has a career losing record but sits atop a lot of the NFL records.
The great Dan Fouts was 89w-88L

John Elway had a losing record before the Shanahan area and the team put the top rushing offense around him. Very similar situation as to Stafford to be honest.

Give Stafford a run game and nothing else and I bet he wins more than he loses. That is if he can stay healthy.

Stafford need to build friendship with Brady/brees and evolve .Cut friendship with dalton and Matt Ryan and not be in stagnant stage . I think his network is his problem

I mean, ESPN, Matt Ryan did win the MVP and did take his team to a Super Bowl and did have a 28-3 lead…and did throw an epic toss to Julio Jones before Kyle decided to shit the bed and run 3 straight times for 3 yards.
