He’s being shopped.
He’s scheduled to make $13 million this year and $15.4 million next year, and has made the pro bowl 5 straight years and turns 27 in June. I’d give a 4th, maybe even a 3rd. Sign Slay, Turner, DJ Reader, draft Young and Blacklock in the first and second, WR in either the 3rd or 4th, RB Evans and an OT in the 5th and another WR in the 6th.
Carolina is going to want a mid to low 1st for Turner at minimum. And the Lions probably have the money they’d have to pay Turner earmarked for Chris Harris
They won’t get that with a deep OT class. It’s probably the worst time to be a seller.
Question is why are they selling?
Probably to build ammo to trade up. So why not toss him into the trade up deal?
They are looking for a pick AND cap relief, not for this year, for next year. When they cut Poe they will have over $31 million in dead cap. Newton is in the last year of his contract, with Newton likely gone next year and money back from dead cap they will have over $52 million w/o any other moves for FA in 2022. Extend Slay, Golladay, Decker if it’s reasonable, get a DT in FA, draft one in the first 2 rounds. WE can ask for a hi pick, 2nd round, for Slay because we have the money to simply sit pat. Carolina is looking at a makeover, they need both picks and money.
